Genes are sections of DNA that carry your information. This information is used to build and maintain cells that make up different biological traits. Such as eyes, hair color, freckles,and etc. In addition, the DNA splits in two, and forms two different DNA strands during cell replication. ( So the DNA molecule is being copied to produce two identical DNA molecules). However, sometimes this process is not perfect, and mistakes occur.
