The products formed is mentioned below in the figure attached with the answer

What is butanal ?

It is a member of the class of butanals that consists of propane bearing a formyl substituent at the 1-position.

The parent of the class of butanals. It has a role as a biomarker, an Escherichia coli metabolite and a mouse metabolite.

The products formed when butanal (ch3ch2ch2cho) is reacted with the following

1. Reaction of butanal with diethyl malonate. In this reaction, the base is reformed as it was used initially.

This process is called regeneration.

The diethyl malonate becomes its conjugate base on treatment with methoxy base of sodium methoxide.

It attacks the aldehyde at the electron deficient carbonyl carbon of the butanal and

gives the product with the regeneration of the methoxy base of sodium methoxide such that the entire sodium methoxide is regenerated

2. Reaction of butanal with sodium hydroxide base and formaldehyde.

Butanal reacts with hydroxide base and abstracts the most acidic alpha-hydrogen of the aldehyde, butanal and generates the conjugate base of the reactant,

butanal which then reacts with the formaldehyde by the attacking at the electron deficient carbonyl carbon of the formaldehyde,

such that the product is formed with the elimination of water molecule.

3. The aldol reaction is represented as follows,

Butanal reacts with the bulk base LDA, which abstract the proton to produce the anion,

thus, formed anion is theconjugate base of the butanal.

The generated conjugate base proceeds the reaction by the attack at the electron deficient carbonyl carbon of the acetaldehyde.

4. Reduction reaction with sodium borohydride.

Sodium borohydride is the hydride donor.

The hydride attacks the electron deficient carbonyl carbon.

This is the addition reaction.

This step is followed by protonation and gives the product.

The structures of the product can be seen in the figure attached.
