What are the steps to writing a formal letter?
A formal letter should include the following:
- your address should be in the top right corner
- have the letter's date below your address
- The address of the editor should be at the left end beneath the line of the date
- Begin with a salutation such as "Dear Sir or Ma'am as the case may be"
- a subject such as "The Problems Faced by the People in the Residential Colonies," and an introduction. For example, "This letter is to inform you about recent developments in the Residential Colonies which have become burdensome."
- After the introduction use the body of the letter to highlight evidence of the problems using about two to three points.
- Your conclusion should indicate your proposal for solutions.
- Because this is a formal letter, you may end with "Best Regards."
Your name and signature should be the last items on the list. Your signature is required.
