- Proteins are known a building blocks of body. They cannot get directly into the blood as they are large in size . Proteins consists of carbon , hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and sometimes Sulphur.
- One should take 10-15% of proteins in his diet . Proteins provide 4.1 cal/ g energy. A normal person should have protein intake of 1g/kg of his body weight.
- Proteins undergoes breakdown and are converted into amino acids.
- There are 20 amino acids found in proteins in which 10 are essential and remaining are non essential .
