Standing guard between the two bays is the grand Scarborough Castle. It has had a long and turbulent history because of its prime location on the headland. The castle is great value for money and offered stunning views of the coast. Scarborough also boasts Europe’s largest open-air theatre, where you can see many spectacular performances which are a must, particularly in the long, summer evenings. The theatre has a rich history and spectators from all over Yorkshire flocked to fill its amphitheatre.
