Magellan, as we all know is one of the greatest traveler of mankind he lead the first expedition to the pacific to find the spice island which is located at Jakarta, Indonesia. But first let us take a look on the life of Magellan before he becomes the greatest traveler. Magellan was born either in the city of Porto or in Sabrosa, circa 1480. Since childhood Magellan has been studying mapmaking and navigation like he’s been born to be a traveler. Magellan studied at Queen Leonora's School of Pages in Lisbon where is showed interest in cartography, astronomy, and celestial navigation. Magellan had a wife named María Caldera Beatriz Barbosa they had two children Rodrido de Magalhães and Carlos de Magalhães however both died at a very young age. Because of Magellan’s passion for travelling and well-educated man, Magellan manage to board different expedition departing from Spain. One of the expeditions that he joined was the De Almeida Expedition where he accompanied De Almeida who was named the Viceroy of India. De Almeida had a fleet of twenty heavily-armed ships, and they sacked Islamic settlements and established towns and forts in north-eastern Africa along the way. But despite all of his service to Portugal he was falsely accused of trading illegally with the Moors, he returned to Portugal in disgrace and every expedition that he joined was withheld by the king. Magellan has no choice, with high confidence and the desire to go around the world and discover a new world, Magellan offers his skills to the king of Spain.
