   and the 500 N force 30 degrees from it

Horizontal force = 600 + 500 cos 30 = 1033N

Vertical force = 500 sin30 = 250 N

Resultant force (using Pythag theorem) =sqrt (1033^2 + 250^2) =1062.8 N  

   angle = arctan (250/1033) = 13.6 °  above the x-axis
