What was meant by Sultan?

Sultan referred to the name being given to the king who ruled over the state in ancient history.

Balban became the first Sultan of Delhi in the year 1266 and his reign ended in the year 1287. The two customs from Persian culture were introduced by Balban where Paibos means to give a salutation to the king and Sajdah referred to as prostration means making a prayer by lying down.

Therefore, the customs created by Balban were criticized by the common people as they were taken from the Islamic religion.
