The way I would set the stage to show that a time shift had occurred between both scenes would be to make use of flashbacks.
What are Stage Directions?
This refers to the instructions in a play or drama about the movement of actors, their speech, etc.
Hence, we can see that based on the two scenes, we can see that the first scene which is set 3 years later than the first one has a disorganized setting and background while the second scene shows a well-ordered setting.
Therefore, the use of flashbacks would be necessary to show the time shift between the two.
