Chronic insomnia is conceived due to various problems like stress, depression, and sleep disorders like restless leg disorder.

Insomnia, in general, is a sleeping disorder in which a person is unable to sleep for an adequate period or experiences difficulty sleeping.

Insomnia can be of two types:

1. short-term insomnia

It lasts for a few days or weeks

2. Chronic insomnia

It lasts for 3 months or longer

Chronic insomnia can be characterized by the following:

● Difficulty in sleeping

● Falling asleep initially

● Waking up afterward at night

● Irritation

● Inability to get enough sleep and feeling tired after waking up

Cognitive behavioural therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) or medications on doctors' advice may help treat the condition.
