Large population size will prevent significant genetic drift.

Genetic drift results in the extinction of native species in a less dense population. Hence, genetic drift can be prevented significantly in a population size which is large.

Genetic drift is the alteration in the frequency of a prevailing gene variant in a population caused by random chance.

Genetic drift may cause the gene variants to vanish entirely and thus decrease genetic variation. It can also cause initially infrequent alleles to become much more recurrent as well as permanent.

When fewer versions of an allele are present, the influence of genetic drift is much pronounced, in contrast to a condition when numerous versions exist, where the effect is less noticeable.
