Respiratory problems are treated with devices that deliver air with a higher partial pressure of O₂ than normal air to facilitate the movement from higher partial pressure (in the device) to lower partial pressure (in the lungs).
Patients suffering from respiratory issues like asthma, emphysema have low levels of oxygen in their lungs to making it difficult for them to breathe. The medical devices used to treat these deliver oxygen with higher partial pressure to help in the easy movement of oxygen to its lower concentration in lungs.
