  • Columnar epithelium: These cells are tall and have a slender shape.

With concern to the number of layers, the epithelial cells are classified into two broad categories:

  • Simple epithelial cells: These kinds of epithelial cells include a single layer of cells.
  • Stratified epithelial cells: These kinds of epithelial cells are made of two or more layers of cells.
