The senses of equilibrium and hearing are provided by receptors of the organ of inner ear.
In humans, the inner ear is the most deepest part of the ears. The inner ear is divided into two main parts which is the cochlea and the semicircular canals.
The function of the cochlea is to aid the body in hearing sounds. The cochlea have fluids inside its membrane that have the ability to vibrate and send electrical impulses to the brain, when a sound wave comes in. This leads to the brain interpreting the message as a sound.
The aligning of the semicircular canals at right angles helps the brain to in interpreting proper balance for the body. Balance and maintaining posture are hence controlled by the semicircular canals. Also, vestibule present in the inner ear helps in maintaining equilibrium.
