What do oxytocin and epinephrine do?
Oxytocin is a hormone that is produced in the pituitary gland that has functions in the central nervous system to modulate social and sentimental behaviors and sexual patterns. This hormone is secreted when the individual is exposed to very pleasant situations.
It is also secreted in women in the processes related to pregnancy and childbirth, producing distention of the cervix and vagina during childbirth and also helping in the ejection of breast milk after the suction produced by the baby.
Epinephrine is a hormone produced in the adrenal gland and has its function in fight or flight situations since this hormone increases blood flow to the muscles, the ejection of blood from the heart, dilates the pupils, among other functions.
