When the left ventricle of the heart fails, then it can no longer effectively pump blood into the lungs.

The heart has four chambers and is positioned on the right and left sides of the heart.

Two chambers - plural atria and atrium - are present on the upper side whereas two ventricles are present on the lower.

If the left ventricle of the heart stops functioning properly then the right side starts working and pumps blood all over the body.

This results in enormous pressure on the right side and can damage it as well.
