President McKinley's passing in 1901 led to the creation of the Anarchist Exclusion Act.

What is Anarchist Exclusion Act?

The Anarchist Exclusion Act was enacted in the US as an immigration regulation. Four more groups of individuals were made ineligible for admission: anarchists, epileptics, beggars, and importers of prostitution. It incorporated earlier immigration laws. On September 6, 1901, William McKinley was shot and killed at the American Exposition in New York, becoming the sixth president of the United States to pass away while in office. McKinley resisted free silver (essentially, expansionary monetary policy) throughout his administration in order to maintain the country on the gold standard and led the country to victory in the Spanish-American War. Defensive tariffs were also raised by him to aid American manufacturers.
