The tertiary structure is the three-dimensional arrangement of the protein structure. Lastly, the quaternary structure is generally the association of different polypeptide bonds in a more complex way.

Hemoglobin has a quaternary structure. It consists of two pairs of different proteins, that are designated the α and β chains. There are 141 and 146 amino acids in the α and β chains of hemoglobin, respectively.
