- After 1979, voter turnout declined in every parliamentary election until 2019, when it rose by eight percentage points and exceeded 50% for the first time since 1994. Except for Malta, Austria, and Greece, all EU members have a voting age of 18; all other members have a voting age of 16 or 17.
