The minimum balance account requirement is a requirement by most of the banks, so as to get the bank services and to keep a bank account open and running. The account holder must keep a minimum dollar amount in this bank as required by his bank. Very few banks work on zero dollar account. In case if the money in account gets below the minimum balance, a fee is charged for the same. If an account is lying dormant for a long time and without the minimum balance, it can be closed by the bank.
