Can I use the word "Imagine" in my hook? Our topic is lgbt rights and I'm supporting it.

It really depends on what kind of paper this is.  If it is argumentative or emotional then it would be appropriate.  If this is a term paper, it might not be as fitting.  I'm an author and if you want me to read your hook paragraph I would be happy to.
