1. 25 percent of the world's oil is used by the US, but the US only produces 2-3 percent of the oil it uses.

2. They both want the US to continue to have enopugh energy. Sen. Shelby says, "..developing domestic energy sources", whilst Sen. Sanders says, "...dramatically improve energy efficiency.."

3.Sen. Shelby wants to continue offshore drilling to procure the necessary energy for the US, whilst Sen. Sanders would like to ban new offshore drilling, and put more effort into improving the efficiency with which we use our energy (eg. fuel-efficient cars).
