Newton's Third Law of Motion states that for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. Friction relates in that the force of friction acts as an opposing force to the moving object. For example, kicking a soccer ball: the ball has force going in one direction, but the blades of grass that get in the way provide force going against the path of the ball.
