It depends on where you live. I recently moved from Texas to New York and the amount of credits to graduate are different by 4 credits.
In Texas we needed a total of 26: 4 years of English, 4 years of Social Studies, 4 years of science, and 4 years of math. We also needed a fine arts credit, 2 years of a foreign language, 1 gym credit (if you played a sport, that fulfilled your credit), 1 health class (1/2 year), 1 professional communications (1/2 year), and 5 elective credits.
In New York we need a total of 22: 4 years of English, 4 years of Social Studies, 3 years of math, 3 years of science, 3 years of a foreign language, 1 health credit, 1 fine arts credit, 1.5 elective credits, and 2 credits of gym (a gym credit is .5, so we have to take gym all 4 years).
I hope this helped. Best of luck!
