What were the advantages and the disadvantages of the mandate of Heaven concept and the pattern of dynastic cycle ? How did these concepts affect the development of the Chinese state ?
The mandate of Heaven concept said that the ruler was divinely given powers to rule, which of course made it much harder to depose of corrupt or unfair rulers. The advantages were that it created continuity to the political cycle.
