Mitch is buying candy bars for his friends. he wants to give 2 bars to each friend, and he wants to have 10 spare bars. He can afford to buy 36 candy bars. Q: What is the algebraic sentence that will help him figure out how many friends he can treat? Let f= the number of friends

Respuesta :

2f+10=36 Each friend gets two candy bars (2f) and there are 10 spare bars (10). If the total is 36, then he can only treat 13 friends.

Let F be the number of friends.

He wants to give out 2F bars and have 10 left  and he has 16 bars  so the expression is:-

2F + 10 = 36

now he can solve for F  to find the number of friends he can treat.

2F=36-10

F=26/2

F=13
