Referring the chart I attached, the slope is the ratio of rise to run

So we need to pick two points lying on the line to calculate the slope.

They would be (4,0) and (0,2)

[tex]slope= \frac{rise}{run} = \frac{\Delta y}{\Delta x}= \frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1} = \frac{2-0}{0-4} = -\frac{2}{4} = -\frac{1}{2} [/tex]

That is for the slope

The y-intercept is where the line touches\crosses\intersects the y-axis...

It is clear from the figure that the line crosses the y-axis at (0,2)
so the y-intercept is [tex]y=2[/tex]
