Answer:
The second industrial revolution is the changes in manufacturing and building, and the new inventions because of inexpensive steel. The industrial revolution brought the need for factories which needed workers. That was what caused unsafe working conditions with long hours and not enough sunlight. The solution was laws and trade unions, both of these efforts combined allowed wages to be raised and regulations on work hours. Another problem was the crowdedness of homes. This was because everybody had flocked to the places with the most work. This was solved by the invention of elevators to give more upward room. The third problem was muggings, more everyday people had money and most streets were dark at night which promoted robbery or mugging. It was fixed by the invention of streetlamps with the broadened streets. This made it easier to see at night and more likely for criminals to not try to steal stuff.
I don't know if this is a correct answer, but it is what I put on my semester exam at K12.
