A phylogenetic tree is a diagram, which represent evolutionary relationship among the organisms. They are based on hypothesis not on well defined facts. The pattern of branching in a phylogenetic tree indicates how organisms are evolved from a series of common ancestors. To construct phylogenetic trees scientists often compare the characteristics which are common in species. These characteristics includes external morphology or physical structure, internal anatomy, biochemical metabolism, behavior, DNA and protein make up and characteristics found in fossils. Physical characteristics are define characteristics which allows organisms to classify them based on their shape and appearance. Therefore, physical characteristics is a type of evidence that is least likely to result in changes to a phylogenetic tree.
