She fell into the tragic part of her life by making such a decision. She opted Edgar to attain a life with a better life. The intensity of love which she feels for Heathcliff prevails in her heart even after marrying Edgar. Her relationship is bounded to the zone where she has all the material happiness but the presence of love and feelings remain missing. She has very bad luck which leaves her in despair and a gloomy state. Until the end of the novel, Heathcliff wants her to be in his life.
