Restoration literature is the English literature written during the English Restoration (1660–1689). It is the revival of drama in England after the restoration of the monarchy
Some of its characteristics were: first appearance of women on the English stage. satirical treatment of the Puritan ethic,gratuitous violence, sharp, witty cosmopolitan heroes. The statement that "Restoration drama were deeply moralistic" is false. The restoration drama has been famed for its indecency and immorality.
