The Bible, especially the Torah, called the Old Testament portrays a paternal relationship between God (Yahweh) and the nation of Israel. Th Bible also portrays Yahweh as the husband of the nation of Israel in a figurative sense.

Jeremiah 3:14 says:

Zechariah 2:8 promises that God will punish all nations and people who have persecuted Israel.
