Spanish narratives exist from the first landfall in Veracruz, Mexico (on Good Friday, 22 April 1519), to the final victory over the Mexica in Tenochtitlan on 13 August 1521.
These accounts describe the conquest, battles, and interactions with the Aztecs. However, they may exaggerate the number of soldiers, weapons used, and the role of the Spaniards in the victory.
Aztec Account:
The Aztec perspective reveals a philosophy of war. While they describe Spanish atrocities in detail, their account remains almost completely non-judgmental.
The Aztecs factually recount Spanish actions without excessive emotion, even when detailing the brutalities they witnessed.
