x+12=3x-32
then solve
2x-32=12
2x=44
x=22

12 added to the number  =  G + 12
3 times the number  =  3G
32 less than 3 times the number  =  3G - 32

You said that                     G + 12  =  3G - 32

Subtract  G  from each side:     12 = 2G - 32

Add  32  to each side:               44 = 2G

Divide each side by  2 :             22 =  G
