The bombing campaign in eastern Cambodia started from  18th March 1969 to  26th May 1970 was part of both the Cambodian civil war and the Vietnam war. The bombing was a covert operation of the United States Strategic air command that targeted the base areas and sanctuaries of the People's Army of Vietnam. President Richard Nixon though was elected promising the end of Vietnam war, authorized long-range Boeing B-52Stratofortress bombs to carpet bomb on Cambodia that continued until August 1973. The bombing covered much larger regions of Cambodia than previous air attacks.
