From the point of view of Charles, he is fearful about this new school all along the story. On the contrary his parents want him to have an upper class atmosphere, to climb the social ladder. It could be said that Charles and his parents might show a certain distance and lack of communication which makes them live the same situation from complete opposite perspectives.
