It was not clearly stated
why Alvar Nunes Cabeza called for a better treatment of the Native Americans
despite being held prisoner and slaved. However other scholars believed that
maybe they were not enslaved by Native American but were treated better. Some
also believe that some of the Native American helped them escape from prison
together with 3 people who were Carranza, Maldonado and Esteban. Since he
stayed also for many years with indigenous people, they adapted the way of
living of those Native Americans. And that when he developed sympathy with the
Indigenous people.
