each number is held by a place holder in the form of a number. the first digit to the left of the decimal holds the place for the ones, the second for the tens, and the third for the hundreds. the determination of rounding to a number depends on the digit before it. if that digit is 5-9 round up. in conculsion, 5403.264 would round to be 5400.000
i like to use a mountain. the top of the mountain is 5 the bottom left is 0 and the bottom right is 10. so we would disregard the 5000. we are working on the 403.264 using the mountain does 3 go to 0 or does it go to 5.
