- Make sure taps and such have no leaks.
- Keep a bucket underneath taps and use the water saved in them for gardening.
- Avoid flushing the toilet when unnecessary ("If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down"). And avoid throwing tissues in the toilets, instead throw in a proper bin.
- Never put water down the drain when there may be another use for it such as cleaning or watering a plant or garden.
- Water lawns during the early morning hours when temperatures and wind speed are the lowest. This reduces loss from evaporation.
- In the school yard, use mulch to retain moisture in the soil. Mulching also helps to control weeds that compete with plants for water.
