To start we need to put all the b's on the same side.

4b + 6 = 2 - b + 4
To move the b on the right side to the left side, add b to both sides.
4b + 6 + = 2 - b + 4 + b

Simplify. 4b + b = 5b and -b + b = 0 so...
The equation is now:  5b + 6 = 2 + 4

Now move 6 to the right side so we can isolate b.
5b + 6 - = 2 + 4 - 6
Simplify.
5b = 0
Solve for b.
b = 0/5
b = 0

4b+6= 2 - b + 4    (combine terms: 2 + 4 = 6)
4b + 6 = 6 - b  (add the b to the other side to get rid of the negative)
5b + 6 = 6   (subtract 6 from one side to the other)
5b = 0  (divide by 5 on both sides)
b = 0

plug it back in
