people used to work on farms and small towns around those farms. people lived near forrests sold wood, trees, animals. the industrial revolution machines were created instead of someone spinning wool a machine did it cheeper and faster. many small by hand buissnesses went under. no more sewing, building, crafting, and basic supplies were needed. Blacksmiths, carpenters, seemstresses, merchants, and others without a job came to the city to be closer to work in the factories.
