The manifest destiny was the idea that God had destined for the whole of North America to be colonized by the American settlers. The Cherokees and other Natives were affected the most, because as settlers moved west, they were pushed of their tribal territories, or lost battles against the military force of the settlers. The manifest destiny was used to rationalise (justify) the westward expansion of the settlers and removal of the indigenous American Indians from their homes.
