The capture of Helen by the Trojan prince Paris
The historical facts of the Trojan War are treated with great freedom in The Iliad. In the epic poem, the cause of the Trojan War does not have to do with economic gains. Instead, the Greeks go to Troy to rescue Helen, a Greek princess, from Paris, a Trojan prince. Nevertheless, the poem reflects the general unrest of the late Mycenaean age.
