By using a hamming code in RAID level 2 system, these memory systems will provide recovery from failed components. By default, data is stripped in such a way that there is a placement of each sequential bits with each corresponding bit seeing the calculations of hamming codes. Thus, when the booting process starts, any firmware failure is catered for. Raid 2 level systems would be straightforward and simple as compared to other RAID levels and would also provide high performance and data transfer. It is beneficial to a University payroll in that it would be able to detect errors and make corrections
The disadvantages of RAID level 2 are that it is sometimes very expensive and might require difficult configurations to implement. All drives must also be kept in a synchronized condition.
An alternative RAID system suggestion would be RAID 5. It is a good combination of both RAIDS 0 which is very fast and RAID 1 which is very reliable. It is the most common method used these days since it achieves a good balance between availability and performance. RAID 10 is also a good suggestion.
