Obsessive-compulsive disorder or OCD is comprised of two distinct parts:
obsessions
compulsions
Obsessions are undesirable considerations, thoughts or urges that are upsetting. They may appear to be extremely unusual or have to do with things you wouldn't ordinarily consider doing. You can't control fixations and they cause a great deal of uneasiness or 'terrible sentiments'.
Compulsions are things you continue doing to decrease sentiments of pain or to keep something awful from occurring. However, these practices or mental acts work for a brief span so you have to continue rehashing them and they begin to meddle with every day life.
