Sound waves and electromagnetic waves are both form of vibrations. They are both similar as they allow for transfer of information from on point to another by using vibrations.
Two major difference between the two are:
Sound waves are longitudinal waves meaning the direction of vibrations is the same as direction of wave travel. Meanwhile, electromagnetic waves have a direction of wave travel tranverse, at 90 degrees, to direction of vibration.
Secondly, sound waves need medium of transportation, example air or water, while electromagnetic waves do not, example light from sun travels through vacuum to reach Earth.
