The slaves starts started to see if that they had no power of the election of political power any more since Lincoln won. Lincoln said there would be no compromise and this upset the slave states because he wouldn't allow slavery to expand. On the Sam day he said that South Carolina seceeded the union and many other slave states followed after their lead. Slavery had made the Union break apart because the issue was to big to ignore now.
