As the number of units manufactured increases from 4000 to 6000 the total cost of production increases from 22000 to 30000. Assuming a linear relationship between the cost when 4500 units are produced.

Assuming a linear relation, 
let X be number of units and Y be total cost
Y=mX+C
22000 = 4000m +C
and 
30000 = 6000m+C
Solving the equations simultaneously, m= 4 , C= 6000
To solve when X = 4500, 
Y=4X+6000
Y=4(4500)+6000 =24000
The total cost is 24000 when 4500 units are produced.
