What is victim abuse?
Victim abuse is an intentional infliction of harm on an individual and this can be in the form of the following:
- intentional infliction of emotional harm,
- Assault
- Battery
- Defamation of character.
The physical effects of victim abuse include the following:
- bruises, black eyes, welts, lacerations, and rope marks.
- broken bones.
- open wounds, cuts, punctures, untreated injuries in various stages of healing.
- broken eyeglasses/frames, or any physical signs of being punished or restrained.
- laboratory findings of either an overdose or under dose medications.
The above physical effects of abuse can lead to :
- anxiety,
- Chronic stress
- Irritability,
- Hypertension and
- Gastrointestinal disturbances.
