How to find the area of a composite shape?
We have two shapes of which composes the composite shape and they are namely parallelogram and Trapezium.
Area of a parallelogram is; A = b * h
where;
b is base length
h is height
Area of trapezium is;
A = ¹/₂* (sum of parallel sides) * height
Thus;
Area of parallelogram = 6 * 2 = 12 cm²
Area of Trapezium = ¹/₂(6 + 10) * 4
Area of Trapezium = ¹/₂ * 16 * 4
Area of Trapezium = 32 cm²
Thus;
Total area of composite shape = 12 + 32
Total area of composite shape = 44 cm²
